Product Review: Nanny Rose’s Queen Bee Sticks & Pulls honey wax

I had been reading a lot of feedback about Nanny Rose’s Queen Bee Sticks & Pulls honey wax on Femalenetwork. So, I decided to give it a try. Did not purchase the big tub immediately, I settled for the 50g tub which costs Php 99.75.

The packaging is quite cute. Why I associate pink and brown with being organic is beyond me.
This package already contains the following:
- 50 grams of all natural honey wax
- reusable, washable pulls (oops, I read the package contents too late after I discarded the first few that I used)
- 2 wooden applicators (although I like to refer to them as popsicle sticks)

Once you open the package, it smells so GOOD. Really. I had to remind myself that this is going to be used to remove unwanted hair and not to be used on toasted bread.

You can actually use the product as is (yes, as in cold wax). However, it is indicated on the label (see? I DID read the instructions though) that to yield best results, it is highly recommended to use the product warm.
So as per the instructions, I popped it in the microwave for 15 seconds. While waiting for it to cool, I cleaned the area where I’m going to use it on (underarms) and dusted the skin with baby powder to keep the area dry.
My first mistake was I thought the wax had was cool enough, then on the first application I had to bite back a yelp followed by a string of curses. Yep, it was still hot. Alhough it did not get the job done in removing underarm hair. There were still some left (or perhaps you need to be a fuzzy lumpkin for this to really work).
But in all fairness, it rinses easily and does not leave any waxy gunk on your skin afterwards. Not bad for a less than Php100 product.
