The Starbucks 2014 Planner

For the past 3 years, I have been collecting the Starbucks planner. This year is no exception. I have to admit during the earlier years when I attempted to complete the stickers, I thought that it was more practical to just purchase a planner from any of our bookstores or other stationery stores. But then again, hey, to each his/her own.

Here are some of the planners that saw me through college and beyond.

Back then, days like this made me feel like the four Horsemen of the Apocalypse
would come riding with me to class.
Aaah, to be a student again.

Who would have thought that on this day in 2005 that I decided
to play hooky from summer class was the day I'd meet Jiro.
I did go through the Belle Du Jour planner phase. I was even fortunate enough  to receive the 2010 planner as a birthday gift. Sadly, I found the BDJ planner too bulky.

The first Starbucks planner I had was the 2008 one. To this day, I still think it is the best looking one with its' leather case.

The 2015 planner comes in a recyclable package. It comes with suggestions on what to use the packaging for afterwards.

I opted for a black planner for the coming year. It also comes with a chalkboard marker and highlighter pen in one.

Marker end.

Highlighter end.

This is perhaps my favorite part so far. You can put emoticons to summarize how your day went.

And with that, this will be my last entry for 2014. I look forward to next year. More kabadingan. More great finds. And to the few souls who wander into my blog, I promise to keep it more updated.

I'll leave you with Japan's zodiac stamp for 2015 - year of the sheep.

Product Review - Daiso BB Cream and Bright Light Lipgloss

Hello there! I hope everyone had a great Christmas. Mine was spent working, but hey, double pay's awesome so no complaints about it. Plus, my shift starts 4am, so I was still able to spend it with my family.

During one of my last minute Christmas shopping, I picked up a couple of products that caught my attention at Daido. One was a tube of BB Cream and lipgloss.

Both priced at Php 85.00 each.

The BB Cream is not sticky nor feels heavy. It is also scent-free and leaves a matte finish. Upon application, it evens out the skin tone which lasted until my lunch hour in the office. I have yet to see how this product performs on humid days as we've had cool weather recently and the office is heavily air conditioned. Interestingly, it says on the back that this BB Cream was made in Korea.

So far, I think it's a good find for Php85.

The second product I'm reviewing today is the Bright Light LipGloss. It comes in three shades. It's non-sticky and works great applied as a top coat on days when you'd like to play up your matte lip color. What makes this extra special are the two mini LED lights under the handle. Perfect if the line to the ladies' room is too long and you happen to be in a dimly-lit environment. Would I get another tube? Perhaps. It's quite fun to use.

You can pretend to be a paparazzi-ready celeb with this baby and avoid channeling your inner Courtney Love.

Food Tripping at The Greenfield Weekend Market

Hello there. Spell long overdue post? Been so busy I had to save this as a draft whilst multi tasking at work.

Obviously, I love to eat. Since I started working in the BPO industry, good eats are hard to find during the wee hours of the morning/night which we consider as our office hours. Thankfully, night food markets like Banchetto started operating in Emerald Ave until it had to relocate to different places.

The boyfriend and I used to frequent Mercato (the weekend market at Metrowalk) until it closed because we had our suki shawarma favorite - Meshwe. Sadly, Mercato ceased operations and Meshwe opened their own store at Maginhawa St.

Up until the summer of 2014, we have been relying on takeout/delivery for our weekend meals. Until we discovered Greenfield's Weekend Market at the Greenfield District because a couple of our friends were selling their paintings in the art exhibit at the time.

If you're planning on dropping by, bring at least Php500.

Here are some of our tried and tested favorites.

Nasi Goreng with 3 sticks of  chicken satay from Tili's Satay.

Beef Rendang from Tili's Satay. The boyfriend's favorite.

Stuffed tofu from Tili's Sate with some eggplant mix side dish we got as freebies from being frequent customers of Tili's Sate
The stuffed tofu is PHE. NO. ME. NAL.

The boyfriend and our Milo Dinosaur.

Milo Dinosaur. Php95.00/cup

Nacho Wrap from Wrap Battle (try saying that five times in a row!)

Steak with mashed potatoes and mixed veggies

Chicken Wings (L-R: buffalo and truffle cheddar, if I'm not mistaken) from Let's Wing It. They have Happy Hour an hour before the weeknend market closes for the evening you can have an order of wings for only Php50/3 pieces. Heavenly.

I wasn't able to take a decent shot of the awesome pad thai that we always order at Sen Lek Thai. Next time. I'll try not to inhale eat it fast to take a snap.

So there you have it. I hope to squeeze in one more entry before the year ends. Blogging from my freezing cold work station in the office, I'd like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas.

My Bunot-Cabinet Version of Ursula

Halloween seemed to have come early in the office. We had another one of our theme day Tuesdays. The most recent peg is cosplay. Not limited to anime characters.

I really didn't want to go wear my Hogwarts robe since, well, I'm a girl. I AM entitled to change my mind about outfits, right?

I've always wanted to pull off an Ursula. Yaaaassssss, ladies. Ursula the sea witch from The Little Mermaid.  But with the limited budget I had, it's time to pull off another make it work moment.

Our team (Inbound Sales) won for best participation. Up's Russell? That's my boss. Cool, yeah?

Morticia and Me. Is that a non-work related website? #julieyapdaza

Our Leetol Mermaid - Ariel. No, not the detergent brand. Redundant. Beki na nga mermaid pa. Ano na teh?

Nina as Morticia Addams, TL JLo as Jean Grey (wag kumontra) and Ursula

Was one of the winners, this is me with our Operations Manager. Got rid of my wig at this point.
My workstation was so cluttered hahaha.

Wig - Toy Kingdom (Php299)
Dress - maxi skirt from St Francis Square worn as a tube dress (Php350)
Shawl - SM Department Store (Php149)
shoes - Doc Martens

For the makeup, I made use of Urban Decay Naked 3 palette's Factory and Ever Bilena's lipstick in Blazing Fever.

I think the end result looked like Ursula channeling the 90s. LOL.

Basic Necessities

When we say "edit", it is not just limited to blog entries, emails to your boss, etc. Editing is also used in our daily choices. The products in your daily vanity routine qualifies for this concept too.

During one of my routine Watson's runs, I decided to refresh my supply of basic human needs makeup that I use daily in the office. Lately, I've at that phase where I keep it minimal but give more attention to my brows. After all, Jeremy Renner said it's the often-neglected part of a woman's face whenever she applies makeup.

I'm still in the process of looking for the perfect eyebrow powder. So far I'm happy with the Suesh eyebrow powder brush I purchased a few months back. I found out about Nichido's eyebrow powder through an officemate during one of those days when I decided to carry a smaller bag (AKA leaving half of my bedroom behind at home) and found out I didn't have any eyebrow powder/pencil with me.

Nichido's eyebrow powder comes in a face-powder sized compact.

Upon opening, it has a reasonably-sized mirror, two shades (Coffee & Black 01), a pair of tweezers and a brush.
Would you take  your Coffee Black? heh. geddit?

I'm happy with Nichido's face powder which I used when I attended the cosplay-themed wedding a few months ago. It does not look cakey. The compact is slim enough to fit in the teensiest of evening bags and won't take up too much space in your kikay kit/maleta/baul. Hence, my second compact came home with me.

Excuse the dirty sponge...
I also grabbed my second tube of L.A. Girl's Pro Concealer, which I also used on the wedding. In fairness, this is the first liquid type concealer that I didn't bitch out about after the first couple of uses.

You had served me well, Tube #1. Time to retire.
I also had to get new supplies for my basic human needs. Stuff that should always be in my bag no matter what happens.

Baby wipes and alcohol which I transfer on a travel-size bottle.

The weather's getting cooler now. The Watson's brand lotion is on sale for Php99.

I also pack handsoap in a small bottle in my purse.

How about you? What do YOU consider as your "basic necessities"?
